S-70B SEAHAWK Maritime Helicopter

The S-70B SEAHAWK® multi-mission maritime helicopter provides international navies with a modern, Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW)/Anti-Surface Warfare (ASuW) solution. Designed to operate from frigates, destroyers and other naval vessels, the S-70B SEAHAWK is capable of conducting ASW, ASuW, Search and Rescue (SAR), surveillance and Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP) missions. The S-70B helicopter's integrated communications, navigation and mission systems enable efficient operation in the high-density information environment encountered in littoral and open-ocean maritime operations.

As the cockpit systems integrator, Rockwell Collins provides the S-70B with our state-of-the-art Avionics Management System and integrated communications and navigation equipment. The S-70B Avionics Management System includes four high-resolution Multi-Function Displays (MFD), Control Display Units (CDU), and Data Transfer Units (DTU). Furthermore, a fifth MFD is used as the primary mission display by the Tactical Systems Operator. Based on our common, reusable processing resources and open systems approach, the S-70B MFD and IPC provide high performance processing for flight and mission management functions in a modern, scaleable and modular architecture. Additionally, our fully redundant, night vision-compatible MFD is capable of primary flight symbology, surveillance radar imagery, digital map and systems information. Key flight instrumentation symbology has been developed to offer improved safety during over-water search operations and night hovering.

To ensure interoperability under demanding and diverse conditions, Rockwell Collins provides the S-70B SEAHAWK with a fully integrated communications suite, consisting of our advanced High Frequency (HF), Very/Ultra High Frequency (V/UHF) and digital data link equipment. As an integral part of the S-70B Avionics Management System, mission sensor management and tactical mission aids are seamlessly integrated for display by the cockpit and mission MFD. In addition, high integrity connectivity between embedded mission processing resources is enabled by the system's fully redundant, switched Ethernet Avionics System LAN.
